More about EVS...

As I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity of coming to Spain through European Voluntary Service (EVS) I would like to share some more information on the programme. EVS is an opportunity for people between the ages of 18-30 to go and volunteer in another country in Europe for a specified period of time, normally between 3 and 12 months.

EVS grants volunteers to discover a new culture, develop skills and also aid local communities. The activities are different depending on what EVS project you have chosen, for example they can be environmental projects, activities with children, young people or the elderly, arts and culture and sports. At the end of the project the volunteer is granted a Youthpass which is a certificate describing what they have learnt and what skills they have acquired. Participation is free for the volunteers and costs for transport, lodging, food, an allowance and insurance are all covered.

The European Voluntary Service aims to develop solidarity and tolerance among young people, promote active citizenship and mutual understanding among young people.

So if you are reading this and are between 18-30, what are you waiting for? Go and start an EVS!
